Merchant City Festival
Free introductory workshops in Calligraphy and Kite Making

Thursday 22nd July and Friday 23rd July, 10-12am and 2-4pm
Merchant Square, Candleriggs, Glasgow

Join us for free introductory workshops in Kite Making (10-12am) and Calligraphy (2-4pm), where you’ll have the chance to learn more about traditional aspects of Chinese culture.

After the succesful public enagaging project in the Project Room, Trongate 103, Gayle Chong Kwan is working on 'The Obsidian Isle' publication which will be launched in 2011 to accompany the exhibition of the ten large-format photographic works at Street Level Photoworks, Trongate 103, Glasgow.

Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre invites applications from artists with specialised and established workshop skills in either traditional or contemporary Chinese arts and crafts. This is an exciting opportunity for artists and designers to join our team and work within our developing educational programme.

Evening/ Weekend Course Leaders

Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre would like to hear from knowledgeable and experienced individuals interested in teaching an evening/ weekend course in subjects related to China and/ or Chinese arts.

Expertise in film, literature, visual art, music, performance, cultural studies would be very welcome.

We have moved to Glasgow's cultural quarter Merchant City and near Trongate. The new Ricefield is easy to reach from Argyle Street Train Station (4 min), St Enoch Subway Station (8min), Glasgow Central Station (10min). Click here to find us on Google Map.

Please enter via 32 Albion Street when visiting us and follow the signs, our office suite is the first one on the left in Glasgow Media Access Centre (GMAC) on the 3rd Floor.
