Cultural Diversity - Ethnic minority social enterprise in Scotland

“We run exhibitions, promote artists from here and from China and take Chinese culture into schools through our outreach education work. We are working to broaden people’s horizons – volunteers, young people and the wider community. Volunteers, many of whom are Chinese by getting training in running workshops, practising their English and gaining window onto the world.”

Scottish Arts Score in China

Scottish artworks caused a sensation at the second Qi Baishi International Arts Festival in Xiangtan. The Scottish collection, which included works from Scottish National Gallery, pieces by Claire Harkess, Lys Hansen, Shona Karol Leith, Frances Law, Ryan Hannigan, Kyra Clegge and Gavin Lockhar, drew rave reviews from exhibition organisers and the attending public.

This trip was co-ordinated by Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre with support from the Scottish Government.

Xiang Silou, professor at the Fine Arts institute of Sichuan Normal University will take up a month-long residency at Glasgow's Burrel Collection as part of the UK-wide China Now festival. His visit is organised in conjunction with the Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre where Xiang exhibited two years ago.
