Following the diaspora: Chinese lives in Scotland

A documentation of the project

ARTIST/PHOTOGRAPHER: PAMELA SO

diaspora

The Edinburgh International Festival has commissioned three artists from diverse ethnic backgrounds to work alongside Theatreworks Singapore and its production of Diaspora, which forms part of the Festival 09 programme. The artists – Pamela So, Rabiya Choudry and Pio Abad – have been working with Theatreworks director Ong Ken Sen to develop individual projects as responses to diasporas in Scotland. The website project, ‘Following the diaspora: Chinese lives in Scotland’, was made possible by the Scottish Arts Council black and ethnic minority artists bursary fund.

For the past 6 months, Pamela So has been photographing the lives of Chinese people who have made Scotland their home. The results of her investigations can be seen on the Edinburgh Festival website at www.eif.co.uk/diasporaproject.
